The Burr Abrador Deburring Disc sets the
standard for performance and value in abrasive filament disc technology. The
Burr Abrador disc's superior performance is due to the construction of tightly
tufted or bundled filaments set into a rigid backing. The Performance gain is do
to four factors.
The performance gain is due to four factors. First, the filaments in resin
cast deburring discs are typically set individually or uniformly throughout the
backing. This results in spacing much like a pine tree forest where the
filaments are free to flex and bend without the sides rubbing against each
other. Because of this the individual filaments do not get maximum support from
each other. The tightly bundled fibers in the Burr Abrador disc are in contact
with each other which yields maximum support resulting in reduced stresses upon
individual fibers. Second, on resin cast deburring discs a meniscus forms at the
base of the fiber which focuses stress at this point which can cause fatigue
failure causing filaments to "lay over" or brake off and end up strewn about the
production area. In the Burr Abrador disc the filaments are mounted as a tightly
bundled group in a common hole which eliminates high stress concentrations at
the base of the filaments and the resulting fatigue failure. Third, on resin
cast deburring discs the resin tends to wick up the base of individual filament
groups. This creates a stiff base of unusable filament. This unused filament is
evidenced as rigid stumps on the used resin cast disc. Fourth, resin cast
backings are flexible and often out of flatness. When the filaments come into
contact with the part to be deburred the contact pressure must deflect the
backing against the backing plate to create the correct engagement. The excess
engagement is repeated each revolution of the disc and results in excessive
filament wear. The Burr Abrador design uses a rigid engineered plywood backing
that presents the filaments consistently each and every time, resulting in
consistent engagement and uniform wear.
In summary the Burr Abrador Deburring Disc sets the standard
for
performance and value in abrasive filament disc technology. The Burr Abrador
disc's superior performance is due to the construction of tightly tufted or
bundled
filaments set into a rigid backing.
